  •   Atmel Corporation launches the AT30TS750 series, the first high-precision digital temperature sensor that integrates non-volatile memory and serial EEPROM memory. The product maintains user-customized settings across power cycles, simplifying system design, reducing processor activation code, improving reliability while ensuring normal operation, and is suitable for consumer electronics, industrial, computer and medical applications.

      The AT30TS750 series is highly accurate and can measure a wider temperature range than other technologies such as thermal coupling, thermistor, and resistive thermal device (RTD). In addition, digital temperature sensors can directly control other circuits in the system, reducing the load on the microcontroller. The AT30TS750 series integrates 2K, 4K and 8K bit serial EEPROM memory to store system parameters and user-defined data. The user can access the EEPROM, which is fully functional and pin-compatible with industry standard I2C serial EEPROM.

      "Previous generation temperature sensors had to be programmed by the microcontroller every time the system was activated," said Kerry Maletsky, Atmel's product director. "With Atmel's new family of digital temperature sensors, the system automatically switches to the correct state. Controlling power-up eliminates the need for the microcontroller to support temperature sensing. By eliminating this extra step, system designers can reduce overall time to market, save power, and improve system reliability.”

      The Atmel AT30TS750 series includes a set of five high-precision digital temperature sensors with industry standard xx75 functionality that has been supported by multiple manufacturers. These components provide system designers with exceptional flexibility by integrating non-volatile registers to permanently save component configurations. All components in this family measure and monitor temperature to meet the temperature monitoring needs of a wide range of applications, and are highly configurable to support a variety of system applications.
